Enjoy Jacobus dining spots at new First Friday series

It may be a little town just off of I-83, but a group of business owners is working to make Jacobus a First Friday hot spot.

“I just want to make Jacobus kind of special,” Michelle Long, owner of Daughter’s Café on Main, said. “This main road takes you out to the First Friday in York. I want to bring notice to the businesses here.”

The group held its first First Friday in August and plans to continue it each month.

Along with Daughters on Main, there will be three other businesses open — Paulette’s Bakery, Grey Beards Antiques and Paesano’s Pizza.

Alan Paullet, owner of Paullet’s Bakery, said he was planning to do a dinner one night a month, and when the First Friday idea was presented, he took advantage.

“I’m hoping that some of the people from Jacobus will stay here on a Friday evening as opposed to going to downtown (York) to eat,” Paullet said.

Paullet’s Bakery will offer several seafood specials in addition to its regular lunch menu for the First Friday dinner.

At Daughter’s on Main, local musician Cody French will perform and Long said the restaurant will feature a coffee bar with soup, sandwiches and dinners.

“Even if it wasn’t a huge number of people (that came), I would find it a success if those people who did come enjoyed themselves and want to come to the next one,” Long said.
