September streaming: 'Luke Cage,' Woody Allen's 'Crisis'


September highlights from major streaming and cable on-demand services:

Sept. 2

Narcos  (Netflix). The cocaine cartel drama's sophomore season will follow 1980s drug kingpin Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura)after his release from jail.

Marvel's Captain America: Civil War  (iTunes; OnDemand Sept. 13). Cap (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) can't seem to agree to disagree.

Sept. 6

StartUp (Crackle). Martin Freeman (Sherlock) plays an FBI agent tracking a digital-currency company, partly run by Adam Brody (The O.C.), with ties to the criminal underground.

Sept. 9

One Mississippi (Amazon). Fresh off her own health crisis, comedian Tig Notaro returns to her Mississippi hometown to deal with the sudden death of her mother in this semi-autobiographical dramedy.

Sept. 12-14

The Secret Agent (Acorn). Adapted from the 1907 Joseph Conrad novel, Agent stars Toby Jones as a London sex-toy shop proprietor who spies on the city's anarchist movement for the Russians on the side and is blackmailed into committing an act of terrorism.

Sept. 15

South Park (Hulu). Comedy Central's equal-opportunity offender, returning for its 20th season, is going to have to try hard to top what it did to Donald Trump last year.

Sept. 16

Fleabag (Amazon). Phoebe Waller-Bridge wrote and stars in this six-episode comedy about a woman in London coping with a tragedy.

Sept. 17

The Beatles: Eight Days a Week — The Touring Years (Hulu). Using found footage, this original documentary from director Ron Howard tracks the Fab Four as they make a name for themselves on the road between 1963-66.

Sept. 22

Easy  (Netflix). An eight-episode anthology series exploring a group of Chicagoans as they "fumble through the modern maze of love, sex, technology and culture." Cast includes Orlando Bloom, Malin Akerman, Jake Johnson, Marc Maron, Dave Franco and Hannibal Buress.

Sept. 23

Transparent  (Amazon). The dramedy about a dad (Emmy winner Jeffrey Tambor) who transitions to life as a woman begins its third season.

Longmire  (Netflix). The drama centered on a Wyoming sheriff (Robert Taylor) begins its fifth season (and its second on Netflix).

Sept. 26

And Then There Were None (Acorn). This miniseries adaptation of the Agatha Christie classic stars Aidan Turner (Poldark), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Sam Neill (Jurassic Park) and Maeve Dermody (Marcella) as island resort guests who start dropping dead.

Sept. 30

Marvel's Luke Cage  (Netflix). Jessica Jones' bulletproof paramour (Mike Colter) is a fugitive trying to start his life over in Harlem.

Crisis in Six Scenes  (Amazon). Woody Allen's first TV project, a six-episode comedy, stars Allen, Elaine May and Miley Cyrus.

Amanda Knox  (Netflix). This original documentary breaks down the legal saga of the Seattle woman accused of murdering her roommate while studying abroad in Italy.
